Great piece. The question of “how do we know” as the response to hearing this is what the customer wants is a step so many small business leaders miss. The “if you build it, they will come” decisions are always based on outdated information.
Love this. I've been seeing some posts on "ship first, research later (or after launch)" which have been making me question my thinking... I get the logic of building in public and gathering feedback as you go, but I still think UXD will be the foundation to good products. And your writing proves exactly this - what meaningful research looks like!
